New love and REDNESDAY!!!

Hiya blogland!!!  I recently discovered some craft magazines from England that I absolutely LOVE. They run about $9 US money but ACMOORE will allow you to use coupons for them. They are worth it because they include extra gifts!!!
Cardmaking magazine. The colors are WONDERFUL!! Next to it is the gift that came with it.
This month had a clear stamp, ribbons, chipboard stuff, stickers, tags and papers, plus there were more papers inside.
Inside was an article on how to use the free gifts.
There were lots of how-tos and technique articles inside.

Papercraft Magazine and free gift.
This months gift is these adorable bear cling stamps.
Article on how to use the stamps in different projects. there was also free papers inside for the projects.
Awesome inspiration and technique articles.

Check them out if you're looking for some fresh eye-candy and new inspiration!!! I would subscribe but they don't mail to US so I'll use my coupons to pick them up. They also put out a quilting related mag I want to check out next.

Here's some pix for REDNESDAY!!!
I got these wooden canisters at the thrift store for $1. They were absolutely DISGUSTING. Years of grease and crud build-up. It took a lot of scrubbing to get them clean. I had NO IDEA the punched inserts were copper. I painted them a barn red with black dry-brushing. They won't fit on my counters so i stacked them instead and stored the larger lids!
Folk art painting of crows and red pairs I painted on a thrifted metal tray.
Red gingham thrifted shade (quarter) on a thrifted basket lamp ($1). The basket originally had some of the ugliest fake flowers known to man in it !
I keep my dish liquid in a glass bottle and it's even RED!!!! LOLOL

And because I have such a warped sense of humor:
This is a DUDE. In a red mini-skirt.

Have a great day!!

Tuesday at the Thrifts Haul

Hiya blogland!!!

I made my rounds of the 2 Goodwill's and the Salvation Army in Frederick after work today. And for once it was good pickin's--including a Pee My Pants moment!! I spent a total of $19.50 for all of this!!
An adorable weather-proof scarecrow for my porch display!
Nice lidded basket (love these to store stuff in!), old pudding mold, wooden organizer and 3 hanging thingies.
Collectible plates and a Pfaltzgraff Christmas dish from the 90's with the $26 price tag still on it. The snowman says Christmas 1986--the year our daughter was born. This will be going to her as she loves snowmen!
A folk art door crown It's a bit "bright" but it's nothin' a bit of glaze won't tone down!
A Williamsburg Pottery vase (I collect it), an adorable cupid planter and a fake artichoke. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with a fake artichoke but it was only a dime!
GORGEOUS aqua glassware.

Here's my PEE MY PANTS moment find!!!!

A pristine vintage set of highly collectible Sears and Roebucks Merry Mushroom Canisters from 1983.  I have been wanting a set forever (not for my kitchen mind you--for the Craft Palace cuz I think they are COOL) but they were always in crappy condition or RIDICULOUSLY priced. The whole set was $4!!! I also got the pair of vintage curtains behind them. Now I want the napkin holder, creamer and sugar!!!

Last but not least a couple of pix of finished UFO's!!
Hooked sunflower.
Hooked sunflower wreath.
Wool strawberries.

All in all it was a good day thrifting!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas in July!

Hiya blogland! It's been about 7 degrees cooler then the surface of the sun the last few days here at The Stone Fence Cottage. Come on Fall!!!
I was inspired by Dan of Yesterday Once More (http://dan-yesterdayoncemore.blogspot.com/.  Check him out--his blog is FABULOUS and inspiring!!) to post my Christmas 2009 pictures and have some Christmas in July!!!
This is only a small sampling of the crazy that is Chjristmas at The Stone Fence Cottage!  I collect christmas stuff all year round ( it takes up the space of a 10x10 ROOM in my basement and growing!)
I especially love Santas--most I've either made myself or thrifted! i also collect vintage ornaments and nativities and and and......you get the drift. I realized I didn't have a picture of the Santa tree in the dining room--it's all santa ornaments.
So...ready for some COOLER vibes? Here we go!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

REDNESDAY a little late!!!

Hiya blogland!! Posting my REDNESDAY post a day late---I've been a bit under the weather (extreme heat=migraines-UGH)
Thrifted wooden breadbox. I painted it barn red, and dry brushed it with black.
Thrifted for 25 CENTS wooden checkerboard!!!
I wanted something to fill the space above my pantry that was large enough to "see". I saw a set like this in a catalog that I knew would be PERFECT until I saw the price!! These tins started out as the cheapy ones you get at the thrift store--popcorn tins, etc. I spray painted them red with black lids and made the labels on my computer. WAH-LAH--exactly what this spot needed!!
My "baby" (who's now 24) in one of my favorite Christmas outfits. It was a red & cream sweater, cream blouse and cream pleated sweater skirt. She looked so adorable! Why do they have to grow up??

I also have gotten a couple more UFO's done!!! And they are RED!!
Glittery red praise flags for a dear friend!!
RED rubber stamps!!! I removed the stamps from all my wood-mounted stamps to make them unmounts. THIS was a project because I had 8 BINS from those rubbermaid 3 drawer rolling organizers of wood mounted stamps. After removing them I put a layer of aleenes Tack it Over glue on the backs. I used thick plastic dividers to arrange the stamps on. (There is no rhyme or reason to the arrangement) I then inked the page of stamps and printed it. I put each diivider with stamps in a page protector with the corresponding printed page in a protector beside it.
THIS is what 8 bins of stamps and a bunch of already unmounted stamps consolidated into. TWO BINDERS!! It was a lot of work but worth it!!

Happy belated REDNESDAY to y'all!!
